Technical Seminars for Year 2005

 

First Technical Seminar on February 11, 2005

The first technical seminar for the year 2005 was conducted last February 11, 2005 at the Holiday Inn Minhal Hotel, Riyadh – Saudi Arabia. The title of the seminar was “Design Techniques for Low Voltage Distribution System of Industrial, Commercial, and Residential Facilities”, and the resource speaker was Engr. Teogenes E. Sanchez Jr, a Professional Electrical Engineer (PEE) and past president of IIEE-CRCSA 2003. Sixty-five (65) participants attended the successful event, which was vital for the understanding of how project electrical working and shop drawings are generated.

Second Technical Seminar on March 18, 2005

The second technical seminar for the year 2005 was conducted last March 18, 2005 at the Holiday Inn Minhal Hotel, Riyadh – Saudi Arabia. The title of the seminar was “Transformer On-load Tap Changers and Its Protective Devices” and the resource speaker was Engr. Mohammed Hanif, a professional engineer from Pakistan and currently working as Testing & Commissioning Engineer of ABB Electrical Industries Co. Ltd. in Riyadh, KSA. The presentation included the design concepts, construction, components connections, principle of operation, and protective devices of transformer on-load tap changers.

 

Third Technical Seminar & ABB Plant Visit on April 08, 2005

The third technical seminar for the year 2005 was conducted last April 08, 2005 at the ABB Factory in Riyadh, KSA and after the seminar; a tour of the company’s switchgear and transformer manufacturing facilities was done. The seminar was regarding “DOCWIN Software”, a software developed by ABB which is used primarily as a tool for short-circuit current calculation & analysis in low voltage networks. Engr. Meliton S. Solas, a professional electrical engineer (PEE) and is currently a Chapter Governor of IIEE-CRCSA. He is also presently working as a Design Engineer in ABB Low Voltage Division. The successful event was participated by fifty-two (52) members and guests.

 

Fourth Technical Seminar on May 20, 2005

The fourth technical seminar for the year 2005 was conducted last May 20, 2005 at the Holiday Inn Minhal Hotel, Riyadh – Saudi Arabia. The title of the seminar was “Universal Motor Controller & Integrated System for User-Optimized Motor Management” and the resource speaker was Engr. Arcel V. Garcia, a Design Engineer from ABB Electrical Industries Co. Ltd., with extensive experience in design, testing and commissioning of LV products & system including PLC programming, automation, instrumentation and controls. A total of sixty (60) participants attended the seminar.
