The
concept of forming IIEE Central Region Chapter, Saudi Arabia (IIEE-CRCSA) was
inspired and greatly encouraged by the existence of other IIEE foreign chapters
specially here in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; and the desire of the large
number of Filipino Electrical Practitioners as migrant Overseas Contract
Workers (OCWs), to form their own professional organization / society, as an
affiliate with IIEE National Manila.
With its good
purpose and objectives to unite all Filipino migrant Electrical Practitioners,
who are currently working in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and in the Central
Region in particular, into a dynamic chapter of IIEE, updating the members of
the latest trend of advance technology and of the Electrical Engineering
Profession in the Philippines. Also it promotes and sense of fellowship and
develop the general feelings of brotherhood and camaraderie among members and
to uplift their professional career through Technical/Management Seminars.
The formation
of IIEE-CRCSA was initiated when IIWW, Eastern Region Chapter, Saudi Arabia,
based in Al-Khobar, Eastern Province, through their Area Coordinator in Central
Region was recruiting new IIEE members, sometime in June of 1998.
By change, the
prospect new recruit was an active IIEE Life Member and had already conducted a
feasibility study and a plan to form and organize an IIEE Chapter in the
Central Region of Saudi Arabia to be based in the Capital City of Riyadh.
Through the
Area Coordinator of IIEE Eastern Region Chapter (IIEE-ERCSA) an official letter
from the Acting Chairman of the IIEE-CRCSA Founding Council dated 16 June 1998,
was sent officially to the Chapter President of IIEE-CRCSA, informing him of
the desire to form and organize the Central Region Chapter.
On August 28,
1998, the first meeting was convened and was held at Al Mutlaq Hotel in Riyadh
City.
During that
meeting, IIEE-CRCSA was born, with a Core Group of Thirty-Three (33) composed
of active and inactive IIEE Members working in the Central Region of the
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Thus, a
Founding Council composed of thirty-three (33) members was formed and
organized.
The Interim
Officers of the Founding Council, comprising of Eleven (11) Interim Board of
Directors were elected by core members of the Founding Council, with special
assigned tasks to prepare and work out the complete documentation of the
proposed IIEE-CRCSA, as a requirement for submission to IIEE National Board of
Governors in Manila.
In three
months time of hard work, the documentation was completed and was sent
officially through air courier to IIEE National Board of Governors.
The Board of
Governors convened their 11th Regular Board Meeting on November 22,
1998 at Westin Plaza Hotel in Manila and finally approved the IIEE-CRCSA
accreditation with Charter No. 69.
Also the
Charge d’ Affaires, His Excellency Hon. Jesus N. Maravilla from the Philippine
Embassy in Riyadh, issued a letter dated November 16, 1998, confirming
IIEE-CRCSA’s recognition as Professional Organization of Filipino Migrant
Electrical Practitioners.
A letter from
IIEE National President, Engr. Amador C. Callado Jr. dated December 4, 1998,
was received and confirmed the approval of Chapter’s Accreditation.
The first set
of IIEE-CRCSA Officers for the Year 1999 were inducted by Hon. Consul Jesus S.
Domingo, First Secretary and Consul at the Assistance to Nationals Office,
Philippine Embassy, Riyadh, on February 19, 1999 at Hyatt Regency Hotel, Old
